I thought about gushing over the endless Edward/Jacob debate for this post, but I suppose you Twinerds already have heard it all. I would tell you that I just can't choose...I don't know what I want anymore...but that might just be too geeky to post on my oh-so sophisticated blog.*This is the part where I'd insert a lovely photo depicting these two fine looking gentlemen, but I'll spare you (If I must).
Seeing those movies makes me truly miss being engulfed in a story like that. There have only been two series in my reading world where I would quit with the homework and literally forget to eat because I just couldn't put down the book. Only Harry Potter and Twilight have done that for me. Both series came in the midst of important scholarly milestones in my life. I read HP as I was supposed to be finishing my thesis my senior year in college. Then Twilight came along in grad school proving it to be a dangerous combination. Luckily, I'm bloody brilliant and it wasn't a problem ;)
I have other favorite books and authors, of course, but I'm missing that feeling of wanting to do nothing but lose myself in a story. Do you know what I mean? When I read the last page of the Harry Potter books, I was seriously sad. I didn't know what I would do. I fought the urge to pick up the very first one and start all over again. I want another story like that! I need a book that screams, "OPEN ME!"
Any suggestions bloggy friends? Do you have a book or series that you're in love with?
I plan on reading a lot more. I rarely watch T.V., but I sure can waste time on the internet! Have you checked out my Book Review page? There you'll find the books that I've read this year. The number isn't what I'd like it to be, but I plan on upping that soon. I have so many books I have yet to read lying around here. I better go get started! I'm currently reading Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins. What are you reading these days?

What about the Outlander series? It did it for me.
I don't really read a lot of fiction, but when I do, I love books like Bitter is the New Black.
Kacy, you have got to read Adriana Triagiana's books, Big Stone Gap, and her series that follow. She is a New Yorker, raised in the mining town of Big Stone Gap, VA just above Bristol, Tn. She tells of her childhood in this first novel, using very believable characters. I LOVED those books, and a movie is in the making. Adriana was a tv producer in NY and is very personable...to the point that when I emailed her after I first picked up her book in the Atlanta airport while picking Tori up from a 3week Kenya mission trip (that was too much info, wasn't it?) and she emailed me back and sent me 3 autographed books!!!! Please look those up and tell me what you think! She went on to write of her big Italian family in other books too!!!! and she has a cookbook "Cooking with my sisters" and it's great.
You should try "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer. Its nothing like the Twilight series, but the story is amazing. I also find myself wanting to be engulfed by a story like Harry's or Bella's. So if you find something that fills that void, let me know.
Also, you may want to give the Stephanie Plum series a try. The series is written by Janet Evanovich and its comedy, mystery, drama, and romance all in one. Stephanie is a novice bounty hunter in New Jersey and she always runs into the craziest situations. The first book is called "One For The Money".

I don't really have any series that have kept me as interested as Twilight or Harry Potter. I enjoyed the Shopaholic series but it was more fun and giggles. A really great book is The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenger as well as The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I loved both of those books!
It's so interesting how all of our brains can become engrossed in such different stories! I have a long list, but anything by Dennis Lehane, for me, is a page-turner. Several of his books have been made into movies (Shutter Island, Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone) so someone else must have felt that way too. Anne Rice is great, especially if you like the vampire lore. I also LOVED The Thorn Birds, The Poisonwood Bible, Icebound, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn...all of which have strong female characters.
I havent been doing near as much reading lately as I would like to, and although I've always been an avid reader, I feel that I am incredibly bad at committing to a series. I read all but the last of both HP and Twilight, and I really loved loved both of them... until I lost interest. I think I just have incredible committment issues. I did, however really get into Ann Rice's "Witching Hour" series. I read all of those. And I've read every Neil Gaiman and Stephen King.

So, unfortunately, my taste in books is a little on the "what guys read" side. I love crime/mystery suspense novels (like James Patterson or Brad Meltzer) that involve some heroic good guy taken down a really terrible, horrible, no good bad guy. Who doesn't love a little fictional justice every once in a while!
But I do enjoy reading just about everything else (except romance novels - yawn!). I love the classics and a lot of non-fiction, as well. Most of what I read is based off of suggestions, like I just got the book Crazy Love by Frances Chan, because everyone is saying it's really good. Have you read it?
Now I'm going to check out your reviews so I can add to my reading list!
I keep hearing good things about the Anne Rice books! I'll have to dive into those.
I've been wanting to read The Poisonwood Bible for years now. I keep hoping I'll find it at a yard sale or something, but I guess I need to just break down and buy it.

I love James Patterson, too. If you like that sort of thing, you should check out Greg Iles. He's my favorite!
