the most random post you ever did see

Yesterday was an odd day for me. The boys were so good and Baby A slept for-evv-ver so I was able to get our house in working order again. I currently have laundry for days, but the rest of the house is (was!) spick and span. Since the boys were little angels, our dog Holly decided she would make up for the peaceful day by doing this:
The worst part is that it is right on the line of our property and so it's basically in the neighbor's yard who just moved in last week. They're going to hate us. I briefly considered knocking on their door to apologize and tell them we'd fix it, but then I remembered Oh-my-gosh-I-just-left-my-children-to-fend-for-themselves-where-are-they? And what-am-I-going-to-do-with-this-now-dirty-dog? I shoveled as much of the dirt back into the hole as I could and ran back in to see what shenanigans the toddler had gotten himself into. Then I put Holly in the garage to clean her off and dry her so I listened to her whine the entire time she was in there. Bless her heart, she was used to having tons of room to run and play and now she is in an urban prison. Me, too, girl. Me, too.
The good news is today is a new day and the start of a fun weekend and HEY! We remembered trash day this morning so that's always a plus. Cray K woke up a little out of sorts:
I don't know what it is about that shirt, but it is half off in the morning every time he wears it to bed the night before. Wild little sleeper.

What if I got this haircut?
It's just something I'm considering.

Also, did anyone else wake up to a morning person and a dirty kitchen?
Ahh! Pass the coffee please.

Happy Friday!

Surface Stuff

Sometimes you need a mindless activity, just to keep you busy so you won't dwell on something that's long been on your mind. My problem is--those activities used to be things like laundry, dishes, or cleaning anything really. Now that I'm a parent? I have to think during those chores. That's the only time I have reserved where I can think in strands longer than two minutes. Toddlers will keep you busy. Anyway, what do I do when I don't want to think anymore? When I don't want to dwell- when I'm done caring about a situation?

Lucky you, I blog....about nothing in particular. I just ramble on my online journal for the world to see. So, here's what's been going on in my world...on the surface anyway...

Tuesday I returned to my bible study class after a month(ish) long break from it. It wasn't that I didn't want to go. I truly did...but I kept talking myself out of it because of K's issues in watchcare. I didn't like driving to post, only to have to turn around and come back because he was so upset without me. I decided to try going again and I'm glad I did. It was a nice break from the monotony here at the house. K did pretty well. He stayed in watchcare for two hours and then when he started getting too fussy, they came to get me. I brought him in our class for the rest of the time and he played happily. Those are some of my fellow Resolutions for Women classmates. I find them all to be so sweet and very thoughtful in our discussions. I could learn a lot from each of them! Also? That hair do I'm sportin'? It was a pinterest idea although you can't see mine well-

I'm 37 weeks and really, really feeling it. Some days I have a lot of BH contractions coupled with other "labor ready" symptoms, but I'm not getting my hopes up. My luck I'll go into labor at the exact time I don't want to. God's timing is perfect, though. I believe that so I'm going to attempt to focus on it. At least my husband is home now! He is done interviewing (more on that at a later date!) and gallivanting all over the country. Hallelujah. It's a full time job chasing after, lifting, playing with, and tending to Cray K (as Jenn so affectionately calls him). That one might just stick.

Maybe you need a laugh, too? Last night when K woke up from his nap, I decided he looked a lot like Gary Busey-

Maybe you need some words of wisdom?

This. Exactly. Sometimes it's best to be silent, to ignore. I'm good at this.

How's that for the most random post ever? I'll leave you with something my sister sent me this morning-

Happy Thursday, bloggy loves.

Curl Tutorial- Pinspired!

A couple weeks ago, I posted a photo on instagram of my curly hair and y'all were so kind with your compliments that I wanted to share the love. Some of my facebook pals asked how I did it and I'm here to show ya! It's not hard at all. My hair does not hold curl well, but this technique stays all day. It falls a little shortly after it's done, but I'm left with lovely relaxed curls. I combined two separate Pinterest tutorials I found and created my own version so I hope you find this as easy as I do and want to curl your hair all the time! I am addicted.

This particular day, I wanted less body so I didn't brush it out much afterward or use hair spray.

What You'll Need:
*smallish flat iron
*1-4 ponytail holders (depending on the thickness of your hair)
*hairspray (optional)
*headband (optional)

Instruction:

I forgot to mention that as the layers are curled fully, you should bring down another layer not the whole top portion. I could have gotten at least three more layers from the upper hair. Take your time with it and it will look better.
Tip:
When you're all done, separate your curls with your fingers and use some spray if you'd like. Position your curls where you want them either around your headband or whatev, yo. Re-curl those outta control ones and ENJOY!

Headband Tutorial:
To make the headband, I loosely followed these instructions

XOXO,

Red

Shh...Don't tell anyone, least of all my mom-

but I miss my red hair. I know, I know. I'm a blonde and I should stay that way. But after Baby K is born and the mood strikes me, I might just go red for fall.

Oh, and this was totally the post I was looking for yesterday when I was writing about moving. This photo says it all, though-

Red heads are sassy. They're their own woman. See photo above as evidence. I could use some of that confidence to get me through all these new changes headed my way.

Perhaps it will give me a new spring in my step.

Anyway, have you entered my giveaway yet? Today is the last day to do so. Also, for another chance to win the same prize, head on over to Our Navy Nest and register there, too! Her giveaway is lasting a bit longer than mine. Good luck and God speed to you, my friends.

Cry me a river

Sometimes I'm a crazy, emotional mess. I like to blame it on my hormones because that's easy. Truth is, I could just be a big cry baby! I am feeling pretty good now- This coming from a girl who has cried three times today, though.

The first time (today) was this morning as I was getting ready for church. I don't know if this one actually counts on the crying tally because it was more of a situation where I wanted to cry I was so upset, but I really just had a few whiney why me's and then I was done. I woke up and brought the dogs in while I showered and dressed. While attempting to tame my nappy head, I heard the distinct sound of chewing. Dog chewing. Well aware of the fact that I didn't give anyone a bone, I opened the bathroom door to find Drifter chewing on THE FURNITURE! Ahh!! As I was scolding him, Solstice decided to throw up...TWICE because she was hogging the water this morning and drank it all too fast. Great. Just great. I really wanted to mop before going to church. That coffee I had in mind seemed out of the question due to time constraints.

The second time, I teared up at the slideshow at church. It depicted several children in China who had been helped due to an organization that provides money for surgeries they were in need of. The non profit also deals with adoption opportunities. The video was happy for cryin' out loud. I have no idea what my problem is. I was probably crying because I knew I was the last person that could contribute to their organization--I can't even be a good adoptive parent to 3 dogs!

The third time I cried was when I handed over Solstice to her new owners. A friend and fellow Army family took her today and I hated to see her go. It warmed my heart that she seemed eager to go with them and I've also talked to the wife via facebook and am happy to report that she is doing well. She even cuddled up to her one year old daughter today! I miss her, but I know she'll be happy with them.

I'm not sure why I'm teary. I miss J, I suppose. It's so hard to live with my best friend- share my entire life with him and then have to tell him goodbye for weeks at a time. He called me the other day and told me he was proud of me. He said he was proud of the way I handled "things" while he is away and that, dear readers, is one of the best things a military wife can hear from her husband.

Anyway, I'm getting my hair done soon so tell me....
Red?
