Highlighter Yellow for the Old at Heart

Shorts & Shirt/ Target

Let's be real, y'all. Old is a state of mind...and I feel oh-so-very-old-and-tired. Twenty seven year olds aren't supposed to feel this way, but alas my children have aged me prematurely. Regular twenty seven year olds can probably wear highlighter colored clothes and not over-think it. Well, I can't. I contemplated for awhile about how to hop on this new trend of wearing neon bandwagon. I finally decided to go with my old rule:

* Whatever clothing item is questionable/scandalous/crazy/interesting (oh, you get the point), wear a conservative item to off set it.

I decided the best way to wear this color is to dress as if my dirty hair don't care.
Grungy, wrinkled button-up.
Dirty hair piled on top of my head.
Comfy AND fun.
What trends are you afraid to wear?

Dude. I think ALL the time that I'm too old to wear half of the stuff that I wear. ESPECIALLY when I go to Fin's school and 1/3 of them look like they live at the gym, 1/3 look like they just stepped out of Pinterest and the other 1/3 of them look like they forgot how to put on real clothes.
I like this outfit though :)

You aren't old! If you're old, I'm old and I'm not old, lol. And you're adorable.

First off, I think 27 is the perfect age so you are absolutely not old :) I still struggle admitting I'm past it.

I saw those shorts at Target but yellow isn't my thing. I got the hot pink capris and polka dot shorts instead. Age is just a number! :)

I cannot bring myself to wear skinny jeans with anything but boots that hide the fact that they are skinny jeans. I feel like it makes my hips look 5x bigger than they really are and I feel foolish wearing skinnies with heels. I have no guts!

I like the look! It's a good combination.

It took me a few tries. Now I can wear my highlighter pants out and about without a second thought. I think all 27 year olds have this problem :)

I would have never thought to of paired neon with denim but it really works!
Kids definitely age you quickly. I'm 35 and feel like I'm 80 most days

Every time you write a style post, I always wonder how you can be one year younger than me but look so cute while I look so...old lol. Love this mix! I get scared of color, but I like how the shirt balances it really well.

I cannot do the skinny jeans what so ever or colored jeans. First of all, I dont think I could even fit into skinny jeans and second I would feel so claustrophobic in them. Second, colored jeans or patterned jeans, so not me. I have a hard enough time figuring out what shirt to wear with my work pants, so me matching a shirt to colored jeans, fa-get about it! :)

That's a cute outfit! I've been dressing the same for awhile... I did venture out and get some skinny jeans and LOVE THEM. So I'm a little behind on trends lol

That's a perfect pairing. I cannot fathom wearing neon because it reminds me of 8th grade (yep, I'm old) and Wham!

Love the outfit! It is awesome to wear something bright and then something to offset it. Great idea.
I am still uncomfortable wearing skinny jeans and anything other than boots. I love the look of flats or short boots with them, but I feel like my thighs look ENORMOUS like that.
Anything that is comfy and fun is totally perfect!

That's what my husband said, too. He was like "denim and neon? That's very 80's." That was probably his nice way of telling me I look ridiculous. Haha

I felt weird about it for awhile, too but now I live in them!
