For the most part, I liked the book. I found it very interesting. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it is one man's account of the mission that killed Osama bin Laden. Mark Owen (a pen name) wrote this firsthand account.
About the Author: Mark Owen a former member of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group, commonly known as SEAL Team Six. In his many years as a Navy SEAL, he has participated in hundreds of missions around the globe, including the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean in 2009. Owen was a team leader on Operation Neptune Spear in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on May 1, 2011, which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden. Owen was one of the first men through the door on the third floor of the terrorist mastermind’s hideout, where he witnessed Bin Laden’s death. Mark Owen’s name and the names of the other SEALs mentioned in No Easy Day have been changed for their security.
At the end of the novel, he wrote about how the world wanted to know who was involved in the mission while most of the guys wanted to fade back into some semblance of a normal life. I can understand wanting to do that...but then THEN! He told a story of one of the men saying something along the lines of~ I just got home from killing Osama bin Laden. Can I have a beer before I start changing diapers again? That one line was enough to make me mad. Ha! The wives and families of these brave men are working and sacrificing in some capacity, too. It's a much different sacrifice, but one nonetheless. I just really believe in family first and because I've never been a service member, I don't know what it's like to put the military first or feel a strong allegiance to protecting members of a team that way. I guess what irked me was that the guy's wife likely never stopped working while he was away so yeah- man up, navy seal and change a poopy diaper. It's your turn. ;)
I'm kidding, mostly.
I enjoyed the book. I'd recommend it if you can handle the cockiness of the best of the best!

Yay! Love Starbucks and I love my Kindle Paperwhite. I just got my Kindle for Christmas and love reading on it so much more than I did on my iPad 2. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

I'm loving the vanilla spice latte from Starbucks right now! I'm not sure what I'd get with the Amazon giftcard though. Like Jessica mentioned, maybe some new books for my kindle! :)
White Chocolate Mocha....and probably books OR some kind of food I can't get here in Alaska!
I always get a hot chocolate - sometimes peppermint, sometimes salted caramel, sometimes regular! I dunno what I'd buy... so many things on my Wish List! Though it might go toward a nice umbrella stroller that we desperately need
Anything decaf right now!
Skinny mocha!!! and Tassimo t-discs!
Hi! I nominated you for a Liebster Award. Check out my blog for more deets!
I've really started liking the Chai tea at Starbucks. I'm too cheap to go there all the time though! ;) I'd probably use the Amazon card to buy some house decor. Or craft supplies. Or some jewelry. Who knows!
I'm currently helping my local Starbucks clean out their leftover holiday drinks :) And what would I buy from Amazon? I've got a cart 6 pages long just waiting to be cleaned out :)
